The Rohde & Schwarz RTM3002 is the base two-channel model within the RTM3000 family and forms the foundation for all RTM3002 bandwidth upgrade configurations. Designed around Rohde & Schwarz's "Power of Ten" architecture, the platform combines a custom-designed 10-bit ADC, deep acquisition memory, high sampling performance, advanced triggering, and a large touchscreen interface into a powerful engineering and troubleshooting instrument.
A key advantage of the RTM3000 platform is its custom 10-bit analog-to-digital converter. Compared with conventional 8-bit oscilloscopes, the RTM3002 delivers four times the vertical resolution, enabling engineers to identify low-level signal details, switching ripple, power integrity issues, transient disturbances, and noise components that may otherwise remain hidden. This enhanced vertical performance is particularly valuable when analysing power supplies, mixed-signal circuits, industrial electronics, and embedded systems.
The oscilloscope supports real-time sampling rates up to 5 GSa/s and provides 40 Mpoints acquisition memory per channel, extending to 80 Mpoints in interleaved operation. This deep memory architecture allows long-duration waveform captures while maintaining high timing resolution, making the RTM3002 highly effective for analysing serial communications, embedded processors, switching power supplies, control systems, and transient events.
Standard functionality includes FFT spectrum analysis, digital voltmeter operation, trigger counter measurements, waveform mathematics, mask testing, advanced triggering modes, automated measurements, and waveform search functions. Engineers can perform both time-domain and frequency-domain analysis without requiring additional bench instruments.
The RTM3002 can be expanded through optional software and hardware upgrades. Protocol triggering and decoding are available for I2C, SPI, UART, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, CAN, LIN, I2S, ARINC 429, and MIL-STD-1553 communications. Optional upgrades also add mixed-signal capability with 16 digital channels, arbitrary waveform generation, pattern generation, power analysis, frequency response analysis, and advanced segmented memory functions.
The large 10.1-inch WXGA capacitive touchscreen provides excellent visibility for waveform analysis, FFT measurements, protocol decoding, and automated measurement results. Combined with acquisition rates exceeding 64,000 waveforms per second and a boot time of approximately 10 seconds, the RTM3002 is optimized for efficient operation in development laboratories, manufacturing environments, educational facilities, and service centres.
