DESCRIPTION:

The Rohde & Schwarz RTA4004 with 350 MHz bandwidth provides an ideal balance between performance, acquisition depth, and advanced analysis capability. Positioned within the RTA4000 Series, the instrument is designed for engineers working with embedded systems, industrial control electronics, communications interfaces, power conversion systems, and mixed-signal designs that require detailed signal visibility and advanced debugging tools.

At the core of the RTA4000 platform is a custom-designed 10-bit analog-to-digital converter. Compared with conventional 8-bit oscilloscopes, the architecture provides four times the vertical resolution, allowing engineers to observe low-level signal details, switching ripple, transient disturbances, power integrity issues, and signal integrity problems with greater accuracy. This enhanced resolution is particularly beneficial when analysing modern low-voltage digital electronics and power electronics applications.

The RTA4004 supports real-time sampling rates up to 5 GSa/s and provides up to 100 Mpoints acquisition memory. This combination allows long-duration waveform captures while maintaining high timing resolution, enabling engineers to analyse serial communication traffic, intermittent faults, startup sequences, control loops, and transient events without sacrificing detail.

Standard functionality includes FFT spectrum analysis, automatic measurements, advanced triggering, waveform mathematics, mask testing, search capabilities, and history mode acquisition. The instrument can be further expanded through optional software packages supporting serial bus triggering and decoding for I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, LIN, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, I2S, ARINC 429, and MIL-STD-1553 communications.

The platform is also MSO-ready and can be upgraded with 16 digital logic channels for synchronous analogue and digital analysis. This capability makes the RTA4004 particularly effective for debugging microcontrollers, FPGAs, embedded processors, industrial automation equipment, and communications systems where analogue and digital interactions must be analysed simultaneously.

The large 10.1-inch WXGA capacitive touchscreen provides extensive workspace for displaying multiple waveforms, decoded protocols, FFT measurements, and analysis results. Combined with acquisition rates of up to 1,000,000 waveforms per second, the instrument is highly effective at identifying intermittent faults and elusive signal anomalies.
