DESCRIPTION:

The Rohde & Schwarz RTM3004 is the four-channel base model within the RTM3000 family and provides 100 MHz bandwidth while incorporating Rohde & Schwarz's "Power of Ten" architecture. The platform combines a custom-designed 10-bit ADC, deep acquisition memory, high sampling performance, advanced triggering, and extensive upgrade capability within a professional laboratory oscilloscope.

A major advantage of the RTM3000 platform is its custom 10-bit analog-to-digital converter. Compared with conventional 8-bit oscilloscopes, the RTM3004 provides four times the vertical resolution, enabling engineers to observe low-level signal details, switching ripple, transient disturbances, power integrity issues, and noise components that may otherwise remain hidden. This higher resolution is particularly valuable when analysing power electronics, industrial control systems, mixed-signal designs, and embedded platforms.

The RTM3004 supports real-time sampling rates up to 5 GSa/s and provides 40 Mpoints acquisition memory per channel. In interleaved operation, memory depth extends to 80 Mpoints, allowing long-duration acquisitions while maintaining high timing resolution. This combination makes the oscilloscope highly effective for debugging communications interfaces, industrial networks, switching power supplies, motor drives, embedded processors, and complex transient events.

Standard functionality includes FFT spectrum analysis, digital voltmeter operation, trigger counter measurements, advanced search functions, waveform mathematics, mask testing, automatic measurements, and comprehensive triggering capabilities. Engineers can perform both time-domain and frequency-domain investigations without requiring additional bench instruments.

The RTM3004 platform supports extensive future expansion. Optional upgrades provide mixed-signal capability with 16 digital logic channels, protocol triggering and decoding for I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, LIN, I2S, ARINC 429, and MIL-STD-1553, as well as waveform generation, pattern generation, power analysis, spectrum analysis, and frequency response analysis. This upgrade path allows the instrument to grow alongside evolving development requirements.

The large 10.1-inch WXGA capacitive touchscreen provides ample workspace for simultaneous viewing of four analogue channels, decoded protocols, FFT measurements, and automated measurement results. Combined with acquisition rates exceeding 64,000 waveforms per second and a fast startup time, the RTM3004 is optimized for demanding laboratory, manufacturing, educational, and service environments.
