The Rohde & Schwarz MXO38-350 combines eight analogue channels with 350 MHz bandwidth in one of the most compact high-performance oscilloscopes available. Built on Rohde & Schwarz's next-generation MXO architecture, the instrument delivers exceptional acquisition performance, high vertical resolution, deep memory, and advanced analysis capabilities for engineers working on complex electronic systems.
At the heart of the MXO38-350 is a true 12-bit analog-to-digital converter operating at full resolution across all sampling rates. Compared with conventional 8-bit oscilloscopes, the architecture provides sixteen times greater vertical resolution, allowing engineers to observe low-level signal details, power rail ripple, switching noise, transient disturbances, jitter effects, and signal integrity issues with exceptional clarity. HD mode further increases effective vertical resolution to as much as 18 bits for precision measurements.
The oscilloscope supports sampling rates up to 5 GSa/s and provides 125 Mpoints memory depth per channel as standard. Optional upgrades expand memory depth to 500 Mpoints per channel. This deep memory architecture enables long-duration captures while maintaining fine timing resolution, making the instrument particularly effective for analysing embedded processors, industrial control systems, communications interfaces, motor drives, switching power supplies, and complex transient events.
A defining characteristic of the MXO platform is its waveform acquisition performance. The MXO38-350 captures more than 4.5 million waveforms per second and provides up to 99% real-time signal visibility. This dramatically improves the probability of detecting rare glitches, intermittent faults, timing violations, protocol errors, and sporadic disturbances that may remain hidden on slower oscilloscopes.
Integrated spectrum analysis provides up to 50,000 FFT calculations per second with independent time-domain and frequency-domain controls. Engineers can perform EMI investigations, harmonics analysis, RF troubleshooting, switching power supply development, and mixed-domain debugging without requiring a dedicated spectrum analyzer.
Advanced triggering capabilities include edge, pulse width, glitch, runt, timeout, interval, slew rate, setup-and-hold, pattern, state, zone, serial bus, spectrum, and math triggering. Trigger sensitivity down to 0.0001 vertical divisions, trigger rearm times below 21 ns, and trigger jitter as low as 1 ps provide exceptional event isolation capability.
The large 11.6-inch Full HD touchscreen provides extensive workspace for simultaneous viewing of eight analogue channels, protocol decodes, FFT measurements, automated measurements, and mixed-domain analysis results. The platform can be expanded with optional 16-channel logic analysis, arbitrary waveform generation, protocol decoding, power analysis, automotive Ethernet analysis, and aerospace protocol support.
